How, and why, you should fry marbles!

Have you ever fried marbles before?? I thought my marbles were already fried, but turns out, frying marbles is a fun, easy craft, with some beautiful results. Here's how.....

Start with clean marbles and a clean cast-iron frying pan. Turn the heat to high and pour the marbles in the pan. Stir frequently so that they become evenly heated.

Prepare a big pot of ICE water. Keep cooking those marbles. In about 6 minutes, they'll be hot enough. The hotter they are, the more they'll crack. After 6 minutes, pour all of the marbles carefully and quickly into the pot of ice water. You can hear them crack!!

Wait for them to cool, and then pour gently (the marbles are fragile, and may shatter at this point) into a strainer and wait for them to dry. They come out so pretty!

We turned ours into xmas light lanterns.

Pretty, twinkly, cheap and easy!

I am also debuting a weekly feature today, but not making a separate post....

Second-hand Steal of The Week!

Today I found this couch, at a garage sale, for $40!! The single, childless, petless owner bought it at Kitchen Kaboodle for $800.

Also this gorgeous Pottery Barn clock for $7. Love!
